Oh what a day at the kite festival

On Saturday the 14th we took the kids for a surprise outing. My sister in law, Sarah, had seen in the monthly city news magazine that they were having the annual kite festival and Pea had been begging to fly her little angry birds kite that she got in her Easter basket from her auntie Terri. So we packed them in the car and headed to the park. Of course lil man didn't want to go, but we forced him to and from the pictures he seemed to enjoy himself.
Aunt Sarah is trying to help Pea get her little kite up in the air.
Big brother is now taking a stab at getting the kite in the air.
Aunt Sarah bought lil man his own kite while we were there, so Jason is helping him get his own kite up.
There were many kites in the sky.
Pea had enough of trying so she sat picking up rocks.
After a lot of attempts lil man was finally able to sit and enjoy watching his kite in the air.
Pea was so tired that daddy gave her a ride back. After our time at the festival we headed to Joe's Crab Shack for some delicious lunch.
My bucket of crab.

Me and my sweet Pea.

Jason and Sarah shared a big drink that made both of them make such faces. We all had a great time and spending time together with our lil man, forced time that is, turned out to be great. He had a blast and we are all learning that we must do more things together regardless if he wants to or not. Before we would give him an option and he would always chose to stay home, and we obliged rather then deal with the lip dragging, but we can't do that anymore. This is a pretty difficult age and we're holding on to our hats because 13 is just around the corner and we know we will be very involved even if he doesn't like it. So pray for us as we go through these next few years of trail and error. It's only going to get fun from here.
